It was announced this morning that legendary Hockey Night in Canada play-by-play announcer Bob Cole passed away at the age of 90.

Bob Cole, the play-by-play voice of countless NHL games, dies at 90

Cole began his career calling games on the radio for CBC in 1969 then moved over to television in 1973. From 1980 to 2008, Cole was the play-by-play announcer for almost every Toronto Maple Leafs until he was replaced by Jim Hughson. Over the course of those 30 years, Cole announced at least one NHL Stanley Cup final game every year.
The legendary announcer also went on to call a game during the 1998 Olympics between the Czech Republic and Canada as well as the gold medal game in 2002 between the United States and Canada. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1996 for Broadcasting excellence.

The entire community thanks him and wishes the Cole family our condolences.
