Carson Soucy, the Vancouver Canucks defenseman, is facing a week-to-week recovery period following an undisclosed injury sustained during a match against the Calgary Flames last Friday. Coach Rick Tocchet confirmed the news on Sunday, stating,
"I don't think it's too long, but if I had to say, it would be week-to-week."

Due to this injury, Soucy is unlikely to be in the lineup for the Canucks' season opener on October 11th.

The incident occurred late in the second period when Soucy collided with Flames' forward Yegor Sharangovich along the boards and fell to the ice. Although he initially remained on the bench, he later went to the locker room and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Soucy, aged 28, signed a three-year, $9.75-million contract with the Canucks during the off-season after spending the previous two seasons in Seattle. He tallied three goals and 16 points in his last season.

In a pre-season game against the Kraken, Soucy scored his first goal as a Canuck.

Friday's match against the Flames marked the Canucks' final pre-season game before kicking off their regular season against the Edmonton Oilers.
