The Seattle Kraken had a strong season last season. The team finished with 100 points and made it to the the second round before losing to the Stars.

The Kraken will have a similar team but the expectation for last season was that they would be a fringe playoff team most likely missing the playoffs. Obviously, they exceeded expectations, the prevailing thought is that the team could take a step back for the 2023-24 season. The Kraken will have to prove people wrong again this season.

Jordan Eberle is a veteran winger who has been a solid top-six forward for the team. He scored 63 points last season and was a force in the playoffs scoring 11 points. Eberle is in his last year of a five year deal at $5.5 million.

Justin Schultz is a steady puck-moving defenceman. The 33-year-old had a solid season putting up 34 points in 70 games. He was also excpetional in the playoffs, recording 10 points in 14 games. Schultz has one year left on his two year deal at $3 million dollars. Schultz will likely look for a salary increase at the end of next year.

Alexander Wennberg has played a solid middle-six forward role for the Kraken. Wennberg is a talented forward who put up 38 points in 80 games. The 28-year-old is in his final year of his three year deal at $4.5 million dollars.

It is possible that the Kraken bring back these players but the likely scenario is that the Kraken move on from at least two of them. The Kraken will have to make a decision on if they are willing to risk losing these players for nothing.
