Star NHL Defenseman Suspended

Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy has been suspended four games by the NHL after an illegal hit to the head on Panthers' defenseman Oliver-Ekman Larsson.

The hit happened on Monday night between the two teams, a rematch of last year's first round playoff series.

In that series, Florida came back from a 3-1 deficit to beat the Bruins dramatically in game 7 overtime to end the Bruins record setting season.

Needless to say, the intensity for Monday's game would be high from the get go.

McAvoy's hit came after the puck was cleared out of the zone while the Bruins were trying to keep pressure on.

Ekman-Larsson was not anywhere near the puck when McAvoy skated by and delivered a check to the head.

The Bruins next three games are against the Maple Leafs, Red Wings, and Stars; all are tough opponents.
