Defenseman Brian Dumoulin scored his first goal as a member of the Seattle Kraken on Monday against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The 32-year old defenseman signed a two year contract with Seattle in the offseason with an average annual salary of $3.15 million with a modified no-trade clause.

Dumoulin's first goal came in the first period against Tampa Bay where he fired the puck into an open net while Tampa goaltender Jonas Johansson was down.

The shot went off the right pad of Johansson, right onto the open stick of Dumoulin, burying the rebound for his first of the season.

Dumoulin has been paired mainly with Justin Schultz on the third defense pairing this season, providing a steady veteran presence.

Dumoulin and Schultz both had experience playing together in Pittsburgh where they won a Stanley Cup together.

Their defense pairing has been creating some sustained offensive zone time over the past few games, and got rewarded for it.
