Climate Pledge Arena made history becoming the first arena to achieve Zero Carbon Certification by the International Living Future Institute.

The arena was not named after a company, but a pledge made by Amazon and Global Optimism in 2019 for companies to be net zero carbon by the year 2040.

The work that was put in to achieve this major certification includes solar panels that were installed on the roof of the Alaska Airlines Atrium and the 1st Avenue Garage, resulting in over 1,300 on-site solar panels.

Climate Pledge arena is an electric-only arena which includes, but is not limited to, the Zambonis, forklifts, and cooking equipment. This eliminates fossil fuel consumption throughout the entire arena.

While keeping track of the arena's carbon footprint, Climate Pledge aims to reduce emissions every year.

The arena is powered by off-site renewable energy which is possible through certifications.

With these certifications, Climate Pledge Arena is powered with 100% renewable energy until 2025.
