It was announced yesterday that general manager Kyle Davidson had closed the book on the idea of Patrick Kane returning to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Some pundits and some of the fan base felt that a reunion could be possible as Kane is set to become an unrestricted free agent after signing with the Detroit Red Wings earlier in February.
Kane's story this year began with hip resurfacing surgery that kept him out of the first half of the season which led to speculation running rampant across the web and amongst teams of where he will go and if he will be able to play.
After the new year, it became clear that the Red Wings were likely his choice in which he made his decision and received $2.7 million. His staff line was quite impressive considering the invasive nature of the surgery where he had played fifty games, scored twenty goals with 27 assists for 47 points.
The three-time Stanley Cup champion has kept quiet on where he may go whether it's back to the Red Wings or another team. If he does not sign, it's likely several teams including the Seattle Kraken will take a run at Kane due to his extensive playoff experience and the fact that he could still put the puck in the net.
It's likely the general manager Ron Francis will do his due diligence in seeing if it's possible to sign Kane if he is still available when July 1st begins.
