Three Keys to a Kraken Win Against Florida

The Seattle Kraken look to bounce back after an overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night.

Their opponent tonight will be the Florida Panthers who are 3-3 on the year and playing in one of the NHL's toughest divisions.

Starting for the third straight game will be Joey Daccord, who quickly looks to be chasing that starting role for Seattle.

Daccord was outstanding against Carolina with 42 saves on 45 shots, setting a Kraken franchise record for most saves in a game.

With a 2-0-2 record on the year, Daccord looks to add another as he and the Kraken try to climb the Pacific division standings.

Starting for the Florida Panthers will be veteran netminder Sergei Bobrovsky.

The 35 year old is 2-3 on the season with a .899 save percentage, though only two of his five games saw him save under 90% of shots.

Bobrovsky is playing behind a defense missing its top two players, but is still 14th in the league in terms of goals against per game.

If Daccord can keep up the way he's been playing, this could be a low scoring game for Seattle.

Keys to a Win for Saturday

Seattle's Saturday night matchup against the Florida Panthers could be a big opportunity to add another point on this road trip.

Let's discuss three keys for Seattle to secure a win against the Panthers.

Keep Pressure On:

Seattle will be running their same line combinations where Dave Hakstol is trying to spread out the scoring.

Against a Florida team that is not the deepest in the league, Seattle could take advantage of that by continuing to roll four lines against a team that hasn't seen much scoring aside from their top players.

Test Bobrovsky Early and Often

Florida's goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky's individual game statistics suggest what the overall numbers do not.

Bobrovsky's save percentage is .899 which is well below average, but only in two of his five starts was his save percentage under .905.

Playing behind a defense without its top players, Bobrovsky has had to be stellar more than once already this season.

If Seattle can keep up their shooting habits against Bobrovsky, the goals should eventually come.

Take Advantage of Special Teams

One area that has not helped out the Panthers is their special teams.

Operating at 12.5%, the Panthers have the 26th ranked power play as opposed to Seattle's which is 12th with 20.8%.

Seattle's powerplay can be an x-factor in this game as Florida's penalty kill is at 65.4%, ranked dead last in the NHL.

The Kraken have the 13th best ranked penalty kill at 82.6%.
