Tye Kartye has become a role model for the Soo Greyhounds in the Ontario Hockey League, both in the little things and the big picture.

His journey from being undrafted to a potential regular for the Kraken has been a lesson in perseverance.

Kartye's rise has been gradual, but his standout performance in the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs showcased his potential.

His confidence is evident:
"I'm not sure what the team and the organization has in mind for me. But I'm confident in my abilities," Kartye states.

Humility has played a significant role in Kartye's journey. He knew his place and worked hard to improve.

Initially selected in the eighth round of the OHL priority selection, he didn't make it past his first camp. However, Kartye's dedication to growth was clear to coach John Dean.

Kartye's path to the NHL was unconventional. Undrafted, he signed with the Kraken in 2022.

Starting on the fourth line with the Coachella Valley Firebirds, he quickly adapted and excelled, earning the AHL Rookie of the Year award.

His NHL debut came as a surprise call-up during the playoffs. Kartye made an impact by scoring, and his family was there to witness the moment.

Despite the Kraken's eventual playoff exit, Kartye's journey continued as he played in the Calder Cup final.

Now, Kartye is a contender for a regular spot on the Kraken roster. General manager Ron Francis sees potential in his performance. Kartye is ready to embrace any role the team envisions for him.

Kartye's story is one of hard work and determination. He's earned every opportunity that has come his way, proving that success is possible through dedication and methodical improvement.
