Seattle Kraken Announce Dave Tippett As A Coaching Consultant

After retiring from coaching behind the bench, Dave Tippett is returning to the Seattle Kraken organization as a coaching consultant, the Seattle Kraken announced.

Dave Tippett has played for and coached a handful of teams over the years. Including being an advisor for the Seattle Kraken in the early stages of the franchise, now he will make his return in a different role.


The 62-year-old, respectively. Has over two decades of coaching and playing experience. Despite going undrafted, he had a long, impactful career. From 1983 to 1994, he played for the Hartford Whalers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals. Just a year later, he would be behind the bench as an Assistant Coach for the Houston Aeros from 1995 to 1999. The Aeros played in the IHL and AHL, before dismembering in 2013.


He also served as head coach of the Dallas Stars from 2002 until 2009, and for the Phoenix/Arizona Coyotes from 2009 to 2017. As head coach of the Coyotes, Tippett won the Jack Adams Award as NHL Coach of the Year in 2010. He was the head coach of the Edmonton Oilers from 2019 to 2022.

Dave Tippett will now be presented as the Kraken coaching consultant, meaning he will help make the changes needed to improve or further the success of the teams' performance.
