When the Seattle Kraken approached the 2021 NHL entry draft, they were looking at adding some veteran experience to help them compete.

They selected Yanni Gourde who brought championship pedigree to their roster.

Tonight, Yanni Gourde faces off against his former team in Tampa Bay.

Gourde spent six years with Tampa Bay after being an undrafted free agent who had to work his way through the minor leagues before making the jump to the NHL.

In his rookie year, Gourde had 25 goals and 64 points, finishing 6th in Calder trophy voting.

Yanni Gourde would go on to win the Stanley Cup twice during his time in Tampa Bay, and has been on the Kraken ever since.

In his third season with Seattle, Gourde has 98 points in 164 games played and finished 23rd in Selke Trophy voting for last season.
