Firebirds Sweep Weekend Series

The Coachella Valley Firebirds swept their weekend series with the San Jose Barracuda, improving their record to 3-2 on the season.

A huge showing on Saturday saw the Firebirds set a franchise record for most goals scored in a game in an 8-2 victory.

Sunday's game would not be as wide open, with the two teams needing overtime to settle the score.

Shane Wright scored in the extra frame to take home a second straight win for the Firebirds.


Wright has been heating up lately with 3 goals in 5 AHL games this season, and looks as though his confidence is building.


Wright fired the puck from the top of the circle ending the game 5-4.

Coachella Valley earns two big wins, tying them with the Tucson Roadrunners for 6th in the AHL's Pacific Division.
