NHL Team Forfeit's First Round Pick

The NHL has announced that the Ottawa Senators will have to forfeit a first round pick due to violating a player's no trade clause.

Ottawa will have the choice of which first round pick they will be letting go of, with the options being the 2024 draft, 2025, or 2026.

This announcement comes from the Senators trading forward Evgeni Dadonov to the Vegas Golden Knights in July of 2021.

The NHL is punishing Ottawa for not providing the proper details of Dadonov's no trade clause, resulting in Vegas trading Dadonov to Anaheim at the 2022 trade deadline without knowing the Ducks were on his no-trade list.

Ottawa will be given 24 hours after the draft lottery of each year to determine which of their first round picks they will forfeit.
