The NHL's commissioner has definitely not grown into a fan favourite over the years, especially not in Canada. One of the latest decisions he rendered surely explains why.

The league issued its latest broadcasting schedule for the 2023-2024 campaign, and they've shortsighted several teams, including some of the league's biggest markets for national broadcasts.

The schedule for the NHL's national TV for ESPN and TNT was just released, and it's impossible not to take notice of the lack of Canadian representation:

As shown, only 31 NHL games will be showing on National Television, with the majority of these tilts including either the Edmonton Oilers or the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Canucks landed the ‘'lucky'' outcome with two games, while the Winnipeg Jets, the Montreal Canadiens, the Calgary Flames and the Ottawa Senators have none.
Not only does this disrespect the Canadian markets, but also the American fans who will not get the opportunity to see some of beat up-and-coming American young guns in Cole Caufield, Brady Tkachuk or Jake Sanderson. Instead, they'll have to settle for the Anaheim Ducks, the Arizona Coyotes or even the San Jose Sharks.
