Minnesota Wild Vladislav Firstov has been placed on unconditional waivers after the trade deadline has come and gone but his hockey career is not over yet.

All is not lost for the young Russian player who had failed to make the NHL roster in the past three years. In the following 24 hours after being placed on waivers, Firstov signed a two-year contract with the KHL's Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod.
