The Seattle Kraken's Brandon Tanev is known for his talent on the ice and his goofy headshots but his father, Mike Tanev, has been racing horses for years now in both North America and Oceania.
Mike Tanev currently races up to 15 horses in between North America, New Zealand, and Australia. One of his mares, Aardies Express, just beat the local favorite at the biggest mares' race in Sydney. Even during his son's hockey games, he's known to keep one eye on his cellphone to make sure he keeps track of his horses in many races all over the globe. When he isn't getting up at all hours of the night to watch races down under, the elder Tanev works as a car broker in the Toronto area. Hopefully, his lucky streak continues and rubs off on his son Brandon for his next season with the Seattle Kraken.
