Tonight, it's a special game for Kailer Yamamoto as he faces his former team.

With a grin, he acknowledges,
"It'll be a little different."

Yamamoto has been building up his confidence during the Seattle Krakens' camp, getting ready for this moment.

Back in August 2022, Yamamoto inked a two-year, $6.2 million deal with the Oilers.

He etched his name in Oilers history by scoring the crucial go-ahead goal with just 3 minutes and 3 seconds left on the clock, helping Edmonton eliminate the Los Angeles Kings with a 5-4 victory in Game 6 of the Western Conference First Round.

However, hockey deals can be unpredictable, and on June 29, 2023, Yamamoto found himself on the move.

He and Klim Kostin were traded by the Oilers to the Detroit Red Wings, with future considerations in play.

Shortly after, on July 2, Yamamoto signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Seattle Kraken, setting the stage for this reunion with his former squad.
