Over the offseason, the Seattle Kraken looked to add some goaltending depth. In doing so, the team acquired 26-year-old Ales Stezka. General manager Ron Francis speaks highly of the Czech who stands at a whopping 6 feet 4 inches.
The Seattle Kraken began their full squad training camp on Thursday, giving Kraken fans a chance to watch the team back out on the ice. This was also an opportunity for the Kraken brass and fans to see some new faces, including Ales Stezka. Standing at 6-foot-4 it is hard to miss him, towering over the net, — usually being that big it will restrict a goaltender's movement and mobility, but in this case, Stezka uses his size effectively.
Last season with HC Vítkovice in Czechia, Ales Stezka supported a 25-14-0 record with 2.14 goals against average (GAA), and a .924 save percentage (SV%). Those are some pretty impressive numbers across 39 starts. He even carried it over into the playoffs. He lowered his GAA to 1.24 and carried a .960 SV% in 12 postseason games, safe to say the Kraken may have found something here.
