The Seattle Kraken got lucky when Shane Wright fell to #4. He was projected to be the first overall pick in the 2022 draft, but ended up being passed on by the Montreal Canadiens, New Jersey Devils, and Arizona Coyotes. Juraj Slafkovsky ended up going to Montreal as the first overall selection.

After Wright dropped to #4, the question was 'why?' There was nothing wrong with him. He was coming off a 94-point season with the Kingston Frontenacs of the OHL.
Just a couple months after Shane was drafted, he played NHL hockey for the Seattle Kraken. However, he never found his way. Wright only had one goal and one assist in his eight-game stretch with the team. He was then sent down to the Coachella Firebirds of the AHL, where he started to find his way and had six points in eight games. Then Shane went to the OHL, where he dominated again and had 37 points in 20 games.
Wright on the trade block?
Must read on KrakenLatest
According to reports from Puck Prose, a credible news source for the latest hockey news, Wright is on the verge of being moved. The Seattle Kraken seem to be getting a bit impatient, and it's no surprise as Matty Beniers broke through so quick but Shane Wright still struggled in the AHL.
Wright looks to rebound from his nightmare of an NHL start. But the question is, will he bounce back, or should they trade him? Shane is only 19 years old and still has a lot to prove. It'll be jumping the gun to trade him this early on in his career and kind of overacting over eight NHL games.
