Kraken Rookie Forward Becoming Fan Favorite

Seattle forward Tye Kartye made his presence known during the 2023 playoffs for the Kraken, putting himself on the radar for a full-time NHL role.

Kartye went undrafted and played out the rest of his junior hockey eligibility for the Soo Greyhounds in the Ontario Hockey League.

In the 2021-22 season, his final junior season, Kartye scored 45 goals and tallied 79 points in 63 OHL games, along with 7 goals and 9 points in 10 playoff games.

His performance in junior hockey earned Kartye an NHL contract from the Kraken where he would start the season in Coachella Valley.


As a rookie in the AHL, Kartye potted 28 goals and 57 points in 72 games.

Soon after, Tye Kartye would suit up for the Seattle Kraken in the NHL playoffs. In 18 games he had 6 goals and 8 points.


Kartye's high-energy play has been warmly welcomed by fans as he emerges as a solid contributor in Seattle's top nine.

The 22-year-old scored his first career NHL regular season goal against the Carolina Hurricanes on October 19th.
