Matty Beniers made history as the very first NHL Draft pick for the Seattle Kraken, selected at No. 2 overall in the 2021 NHL Draft.

His stellar performance during the 2022-23 season earned him the prestigious Calder Trophy, awarded annually to the NHL's top rookie as voted by the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

Beniers led all rookies in points with 57 and boasted an impressive plus-minus rating of plus-14.

He tied for the NHL lead in goals with Wyatt Johnston of the Dallas Stars, scoring 24 goals, and ranked second in assists with 33, all achieved over 80 games for the Kraken.
